Treasures hunters forever

Last weekend there was a huge neighborhood flea market in one on the most occupied street of the surroundings… I think every.single.person in town was over there trying to make a safe (!) way through an ocean of people… And we were there, with our hunting suits, tracking, hoping to find some treasures that nobody noticed…

This is our fuel!

For these old things that no ones stopped by, we were there…

For this rare piece that was standing at the corner of a table, we were there…

For this souvenir from a 30 years ago trip that was time to get rid of, we were there…

For these old toys that can’t stand next to all new electronical gadgets, we were there…

For this vintage dishes passed along generations but been put aside for the glory of newer modern material and patterns, we were there…

For everything that deserve a second, a third or even a fourth life, we are just right there, with our big smiles, our thrill and our happiness to share with you what we just found!

Treasures hunters forever!

Premium packaging lesson 101

We made our first sale!!!

And we had to do our first extra careful packaging cause you know, it went to another country! So this is when Claude Tetris skills jumped in the game πŸ˜‰ And it was perrrrrrfect!

We are proud to say that we took really seriously the way we are wrapping up your purchases and for us, there is no such little thing that didn’t worth a PREMIUM packaging. You can shop in confidence, we will do more than our best to protect your vintage treasure so it will arrive in time and in perfect shape!

Let’s say that we are shipping away some beautiful vintage ironstone pieces, handmade… Here’s your chance to learn more about our shipping preparation and we hope that you will keep that in mind when shopping with us!

So here’s some lessons from the Premium packaging course that we graduated of (kidding!), well one of us did, the other wasn’t ever really good playing Tetris (seriously!)… πŸ˜‰

  • You shall always make sure that you have the right size box for your precious item… Almost squeeze it!

We commit to use the smallest box possible, it’s easier for us to handle yes but as customers ourselves, we know that it’s not fun to receive a big box almost empty and we also know that it increases the risks of damaging goods… And nobody likes to go from the excitement of unpacking a parcel to the huge disappointment of finding our Precious in bits and pieces…

Bringing up to our next lesson…

  • Don’t let your item lay directly on the bottom of the box… Protect every.single.item…

Bubblewrap, the word is saying it all… And don’t let them near hands that doesn’t have anything to do cause ya know, these little popping bubbles are so addictive… πŸ˜‰

We have a huge box of styrofoam shells, like a giant box… A really big one, loll! Better use them as a bed for our products, a fluffy comfy bed that will protect everything from bouncing… EVEN if we are not huge fan of this not eco-friendly product, we are proud to say that we didn’t buy them but instead, recycled them from a little shop close by. Re-using is as much important than recycling πŸ˜‰

  • You shall always make sure that your item won’t move in any matter, won’t move from one side to the other, won’t move up and down…

This is where we use foam again… We know, BUT again, it’s recycled pieces from shops around us, RE-USING RE-USING RE-USING! On piece each side of the box for extra cushioning and well, another one piece on top…

  • You shall always keep an eye on what you use at home that you can… re-use…!  As online shop owners, we are lucky to be able to control what we use and what we buy as basic materials… We don’t work with other’s stuff and decisions, better make good ones! One earth… One chance…

Did you know that eggs crates are awesome for finishing up a packaging? We have a bunch of kids (yep, 7!) and we buy eggs in large, very large quantity… This is us re-using again cause you know, we are trying hard to think twice about how we do things, what we really need and how we can stay eco-friendly as much as possible!

So, feeling safe to receive a shipment from our far far away beautiful Quebec city in Canada?

Go for it, you won’t regret it on top of it, you’ll make us happy loll πŸ˜‰

Thanks for reading!

Oh, did I say that we had our first sale?! πŸ˜‰

When the mess calls for the best

Life is good… We were online shopping for packaging goods when we luckily found a generous business right next door that was giving away 20 cubic feet of packaging stuff… Yep, all that! So first pic is while we unloaded everything and felt so grateful for this gift from life and second pic was AFTER we needed to reorganize all our inventory so we could see our way through the room and don’t feel to desperate, lolll!

Okay, I must admit that hubby was super duper confident that every single piece of Styrofoam and wrapping products will fit in our tiny storage room and as a rational guy, he had a perfect reorganization plan in mind… He just needed to move stuff around a bit and needed me to have faith πŸ˜‰

As the emotional one, I was simply panicking, lolll!

Well, he was right. As usual… ALMOST! πŸ˜‰

I’m now in awe everytime I entered our storage room; we know what we have and where it is, we can categorize our inventory, we have room for new stuff that is not ready to display yet AND we have lots of packaging that will be so useful to carefully send our, your precious goods all the way to your door!

Life is good, Im telling you!…

Now on to cardboard boxes, packing tape, thank you cards, you know the usual grocery list πŸ˜‰

The Big Chill

You know this feeling, that excitement felt when you know that you just put your hands on something special, beautiful and rare… In fact, it’s two full boxes of amazing vintage pottery that we are thrilled to be able to announce in the shop by the end of the week πŸ™‚

Of course, we are gonna keep some pieces for ourselves, maybe 1 or 2 or 3, lolll! I already spotted a beautiful white vase and a small round chest that I know exactly where to display in our home πŸ˜‰

Is there a group for Treasures Hunters or Addicted to Shopping for Others?

Oh yeah, it’s called Etsy Shop πŸ˜‰

The ABC of working from home as a mother point of view…

Different elements to consider…

1- What to do with this sleeping baby that just wants to imitate a big cat and sleep on your lap, on your laptop and in your arms while nursing, typing, trying to start your day with a cold cup of joe and desperately watching the hours separating you from the arrival of three more kiddies for lunch…

Fix all this and you’ll be free to work πŸ˜‰ So simple, no? πŸ™‚

2- What to do with this messy-bun-still-in-the-same-outfit-for-3-days look that goes with the OMG-we-have-so-much-to-do attitude?

Take a deep breath in and head down in some energizing yoga poses in your former zen-boho-gypsy-living room-now-storage-room-for-i nventory “not sorted not styled not pictured yet” among all the African masks, vintage textiles, pottery dishes and old electronics machines that are now big parts of your life πŸ˜‰

3- How to stick to a schedule, clock in and clock out when you don’t have a boss supervising you and making sure you won’t do overtime cause it’s overbudget?

Keep your sense of humor and try to blog a bit about this chaotic living you just decided to jump in while you are supposed to currently be (like right now) downstairs cooking lunch for the 3 out of 7 loves of your life who will buzz in less than 5 minutes cause ya know, there is still a sleeping baby in your arms, half on your lap, half on your laptop so better make the most of it πŸ˜‰

On another cold sip, let’s just say that happiness is homemade and right now, I’m happy to be exactly where I am, in pajamas, in my storage living room!

And we are officially launched!

We thought that it would be a great idea to share what’s behind this new project, the treasures hunt, the unloading and unpacking, the pictures set up, the sorting, the pricing, the inventory… Through our family life and everything that goes with it! Every single thing that leads to this beautiful project of an Etsy shop so we can share our passion and our amazing finds with you!
